Abstract:

Objective This study aims to develop and pilot an information-based nursing management protocol for mass casualty patients and conduct preliminary application,so as to provide a reference for clinical nursing practice. Methods A systematic search of relevant domestic and international literature was conducted. Following quality assessment, evidence synthesis, and research group discussions,a draft protocol was developed. The final version of the information-based nursing management protocol for emergency mass casualty patients was established via an expert meeting. Using convenience sampling,14 mass casualty patients admitted to a tertiary A hospital in Hunan Province from July to September 2025 were selected as an experimental group and received the intervention according to the developed protocol. Another 14 mass casualty patients from June to December 2024 were assigned as a control group and received conventional care. Differences between the 2 groups in emergency response time, emergency department length of stay, and triage processing time were compared. Nurses in the emergency department were surveyed via questionnaire to evaluate the protocol’s clinical significance, applicability, and feasibility. Results After the intervention, the experimental group showed significantly better outcomes than the control group in emergency response time, emergency department length of stay, and triage processing time, with statistically significant differences(P<0.001). The nurses’ scores of clinical applicability, clinical significance and satisfaction were(4.20±0.10)(4.61±0.11) and(4.49±0.10) respectively. Conclusion The information-based nursing management protocol for emergency mass casualty patients developed in this study is grounded in scientific evidence, and demonstrates strong targeted relevance and feasibility. It provides a reference for promoting standardization and informatization in the management of emergency mass casualty patients.
