Abstract:

Objective Exploring the impact of group music therapy on the improvement and recovery of social function in community mental disorder patients, providing references for enhancing their self-rehabilitation management ability, improving their social function, and promoting their recovery. Methods Adopting a quasi experimental research design,80 patients with mental disorders in the rehabilitation period in Wuhan from September to December 2024 were selected as the research subjects through convenience sampling, and randomly divided into an experimental group and a control group(40 cases each). The experimental group received group music therapy for 16 weeks on the basis of routine care, while the control group received routine care. The social function and recovery status of 2 groups were compared at baseline,8 weeks after intervention, and 16 weeks after intervention. Results No patients withdrew from the study. Repeated measures ANOVA showed that there was an interaction effect between time and groups in terms of social function and recovery between the 2 groups(P<0.05). Simple effects analysis showed that the social function and recovery of the experimental group were better than those of the control group at 8 and 16 weeks of intervention(P<0.05). Both groups did not experience any adverse events. Conclusion Group music therapy can help improve the social functioning of patients with mental disorders in the community and promote their recovery.
