Objective To develop an unobtrusive rounding system for graded nursing care and evaluate its effectiveness in supporting digital management of nursing rounds. Methods A system featuring identity recognition, round detection, reminders, statistical analysis, operational monitoring and anomaly handling was developed based on near-field interaction technology and graded nursing care requirements. From December 2025 to January 2026,210 patients from Neurology Ward 2 of a tertiary hospital in Jinan were assigned to an intervention group and received system-assisted rounds, while 210 patients from Neurology Ward 1 served as a control group and received rounds recorded using mobile nursing terminals. The groups were compared for compliance rate with required rounding intervals, mean intervals of compliant rounds, and patient experience. Bedside stay duration and nurse acceptance were also assessed in the intervention group. Results The overall compliance rate was higher in the intervention group than it in the control group. Mean intervals of compliant rounds for both level I and level Ⅱ nursing care were shorter, and the overall and dimension scores of the patient experience questionnaire were higher in the intervention group(P<0.05). The bedside stay duration was 19.66(17.10,25.14) s,and the mean item score for nurse acceptance was(4.49±0.50). Conclusion The application of the unobtrusive rounding system for graded nursing care may improve the compliance rate with required rounding intervals, shorten the mean intervals of compliant rounds, enhance patients’ experiences of nursing rounds, and nurses showed a high level of acceptance of the system.
