Research progress on the current situation of sharps waste disposal outside health care facilities among patients with diabetes

Abstract

Abstract:

Most diabetics need long-term blood glucose monitoring and insulin injections,and they produce a large amount of sharps such as lancet and insulin needle,which brings great potential harm. Therefore,the standard disposal is very important. This paper reviews the current status and the influencing factors associated with sharps waste disposal practice outside health care facilities among patients with diabetes. Meanwhile,it summarizes the interventions that can promote patients to safely dispose of sharps waste. This paper aims to provide references for nursing staff to formulate the safety management measures of sharps waste,so as to standardize the disposal of sharps waste for patients with diabetes,and to reduce the occurrence of needle stick injuries.

摘要：

大部分糖尿病患者需长期进行血糖监测和胰岛素注射,由此产生的采血针和胰岛素注射针头等锐器废物数量较大,潜在危害大,规范处置十分重要。该文综述了国内外糖尿病患者在医疗机构外处置锐器废物的现状、影响因素及干预措施,为护理人员制订锐器废物安全管理措施,规范糖尿病患者医疗锐器废物的处置行为,减少针刺伤的发生提供参考。
