Abstract:

To summarize a young woman with delayed onset of laryngeal symptoms caused by synovitis，acne，pustulosis，hyperostosis，and osteitis（SAPHO） syndrome，which progressed to acute airway obstruction. Key nursing points：assessing the severity of airway risk，and developing an individualized difficult airway management plan；early warning identification of asphyxia risk and initiation of a multidisciplinary difficult airway management pathway；providing discharge education and continuity of care for patients discharged with a tracheostomy tube in place. With multidisciplinary treatment and meticulous nursing care，a tracheostomy was performed on day 10. The patient was transferred back to the general ward on day 11 and discharged on day 32 with the tube in place. At 6-month follow-up，the patient remained at home with the tube in situ，and overall symptoms were stable.
