Abstract:

Objective To conduct a scoping review of the application of digital health technologies in the continuity of care for patients after bariatric and metabolic surgery, providing a reference for the practice of post-bariatric continuous care. Methods A systematic search was conducted in PubMed,Web of Science,Embase,CINAHL,Cochrane Library,CNKI,China Biomedical Literature Database,Wanfang Database, and VIP Database for studies on the application of digital health technologies in the continuity of care for post-bariatric and metabolic surgery patients, with the search period spanned from database inception to November 11,2025. The included literature was summarized and analyzed. Results A total of 21 studies were included. The application carriers of digital health technologies include application programs, monitoring devices and systems, and remote nursing services. They are mainly applied to health behavior management, dynamic physiological monitoring and early warning of complications, targeted interventions for psychosocial adaptation, and optimization of continuity of care services. Evaluation indicators include anthropometric indicators, metabolic and laboratory indicators, basic physiological monitoring indicators, behavior and self-management indicators, psychological and quality of life indicators, patient satisfaction, healthcare service efficiency indicators, clinical outcomes and efficacy evaluation indicators, and other indicators. Considerations involve patient assessment and adaptation, technology selection and security assurance, monitoring standards and usage guidance, and data management and follow-up systems. Conclusion Digital health technologies hold substantial promise for continuous care following metabolic surgery for weight loss. It is recommended that future initiatives should be guided by clinical needs, with the development of a hierarchical and standardized digital intervention system, the enhancement of multidimensional objective assessment indicators, and the integration of resources through regional medical collaboration platforms,to advance high-quality and intelligent development in this field.
