Abstract:

Objective To systematically evaluate assessment tools of the Chinese version for multi-dimensional frailty and to provide a reference to select appropriate tools. Methods PubMed,Web of Science,Embase,Cochrane Library,CINAHL,Medline,CNKI,Wanfang Database, and China Biomedical Literature Database were searched from inception to May 21,2025. The included studies were evaluated using the consensus-driven standards for the selection of health measurement instrument guidelines to generate recommendations. Results A total of 22 studies were included, involving 17 Chinese version assessment tools for measuring multi-dimensional frailty. Among them, the content validity and internal consistency of the Index of Frailty Scale for Older Adults were good, and it was recommended at level A. The rest were recommended at level B or C. Conclusion The Chinese versions of multi-dimensional frailty assessment tools are diverse, and most demonstrate methodological and psychometric limitations. The Index of Frailty Scale for Older Adults is provisionally recommended, but its use should depend on specific clinical contexts.
