Abstract:

Objective To explore the effects of guided imagery relaxation therapy on sleep disorders and pain in stroke patients. Methods A total of 150 stroke patients in department of internal neurology in a tertiary hospital were recruited from August 2017 to June 2018,and randomly divided into the guided imagery relaxation therapy group, the music group, and the control group. The guided imagery relaxation therapy group received music training therapy and guided imagery relaxation therapy, the music group received music training therapy, and the control group received routine nursing. The Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index Scale(PSQI) was used to evaluate sleep quality, the Visual Analogue Scale(VAS) was used to evaluate pain, before intervention and 2 weeks,6 weeks after intervention. Results Two weeks and 6 weeks after intervention, differences in the scores of PSQI and VAS in three groups were all statistically significant(P<0.05). The effects of guided imagery relaxation therapy were better than music training therapy.Repeated ANOVA indicated that time effect,inter-group effect, and interaction were all statistically significant(P<0.05).Conclusion The guided imagery relaxation therapy can effectively ameliorate sleep disorders and relieve pain in stroke patients.
