Abstract:

Objective The home rehabilitation experience for postoperative osteoporotic vertebral compression fractures(OVCF) was analyzed. Methods A descriptive phenomenological study method was used to conduct face-to-face semi-structured interviews with outpatient post-operative patients, primary caregivers, and clinical caregivers who met the admission criteria from July to September 2020. Phenomenological Analysis of Colaizzi’s method was used to analyze the preliminary data. Results The patient’s home rehabilitation experience of continuity care is summarized as 5 core themes, including somatic disorders, psychological perception, health literacy, activity demands, and external environment of rehabilitation. Conclusion The postoperative OVCF home rehabilitation experience is rich, focusing on physical and psychological barriers, health literacy enhancement, and satisfaction of health needs for patients and primary caregivers, and actively leveraging external conditions to enhance the quality of home rehabilitation, which can inform the development of home rehabilitation programs.
