Abstract:

Objective To explore the mediating effect of professional self-concept between job satisfaction and turnover intention among nurses with master’s degree. Methods Totally 408 nurses with master’s degree from 23 provinces were recruited by convenience sampling method. They were investigated by the general information questionnaire, the Job Satisfaction Scale(JSS),the Nurses’ Self-Concept Questionnaire(NSCQ),and the Turnover Intention Questionnaire(TIQ). Results The results of path analysis showed that job satisfaction and professional self-concept could negatively predict turnover intention directly, and professional self-concept played a mediating role between job satisfaction and turnover intention. Conclusion It is suggested that nursing managers should adopt various measures to cultivate the positive professional self-concept of nurses with master’s degree and improve their job satisfaction in order to reduce their turnover intention for the construction of nursing teams with sustainable development.
