Cognitive adaptation training can bypass the cognitive deficits of patients with severe mental illness (SMI),use personalized compensation strategies and environment to support the development of patients’ adaptive behaviors, and improve their social function, medication adherence, quality of life and prognosis. In recent years,nurse-led cognitive adaptation training has developed into a mature nursing intervention after feasibility exploration and continuous improvement of research methods abroad, and it has been integrated into psychiatric wards as routine nursing. This paper reviews the application status, intervention contents and intervention effects of cognitive adaptation training in patients with SMI,and puts forward suggestions on cognitive adaptation training in psychiatric wards and community environments in China from 4 aspects,in order to provide references for the research and clinical practice on cognitive adaptation training in China.

Objective To describe the scope and breadth of primary research regarding the implementation of the Safewards Model and its interventions in psychiatric wards. Methods A comprehensive search of the electronic databases, such as PubMed,Embase,CINAHL,PsycINFO,Web of Science,Scopus,Cochrane Library,JBI Evidence-Based Practice,JBI Evidence Synthesis,CNKI,WANFANG,VIP,and SinoMed,from database inception to August 2022,has been conducted to retrieve all the potentially relevant articles. 2 researchers independently screened and extracted information for the retrieved literature, and the evidence was then synthesized and summarized. Results The included 19 articles comprehensively evaluated 14 safewards implementation studies in terms of its effectiveness, intervention fidelity, and feasibility. Conclusion The safewards interventions,if implemented with high fidelity, can effectively reduce the incidence of conflict events in psychiatric wards and the use of restrictive practices, and improve the ward atmosphere. Safewards provide an opportunity and platform by which trauma-informed and recovery-oriented practices in psychiatric setting can be achieved. For the future implementation of safewards,it is necessary to strengthen the training of staff,to help staff develop positive attitudes and beliefs toward safewards, and to seek support from hospital management level.

Research progress on the assessment tools and nursing interventions of the quality of life for patients with bipolar disorder
ZHAO Wei, WANG Yuling, LIU Zhihua, ZHANG Junfeng
Chinese Journal of Nursing    2022, 57 (2): 170-175.   DOI: 10.3761/j.issn.0254-1769.2022.02.007
Abstract518)   HTML1)    PDF (841KB)(11)       Save

At present, the quality of life of patients with bipolar disorder(BD) is relati-vely low,and because of the special nature of their lack of insight, few nursing interventions have been carried out in China for them. This article reviews the latest studies on quality of life in patients with BD,including the current status of their quality of life, assessment tools, and nursing interventions to improve quality of life. It is recommended that evidence-based nursing interventions should be developed and implemented in clinical practice and community setting. The effective nursing interventions that are suitable for China’s clinical reality and can improve the BD patients quality of life should be further explored,so as to provide bases for the construction of systematic intervention programs.
